I love shooting weddings. I also really like photographing nature. So, when these two things come together, I am, naturally (pun intended) really excited to be a part of it all! Dormae + Brian King were married last Friday at the amazing Bridalveil Lakes deep in the Columbia Gorge. I’ll be honest, as I was driving to the venue and the road got narrower, and narrower, and soon became dirt, I thought my GPS was conspiring against me. You know the story – I’d be featured on Dateline – wedding photographer goes missing. But the view soon opened up to a park-like setting on a lake, complete with canoes and all sorts of camp-inspired awesomeness. We fired up the new Photo Studio Experience (it was great!) and I met some great wedding vendors – Ryan and Susan with Moetic Wedding Films.
Check out some early shots from the wedding!

Last weekend’s wedding in Michigan was the very first use of the “Photo Studio Experience” which is my answer to a traditional photobooth. I was a bit nervous, on how well it would be received…frankly, I could not imagine it being better received than it was that night. Kara + Matt’s friends and family had such a great energy – they jumped at the chance to ham it up for the camera.
Below are just a few examples from a hilarious evening with some amazing photobooth shots! There are more here and here.
Some early comments:
“It’s a fantastic idea! (And I think it’s evident by the pictures just how much people enjoyed the photo studio experience!)”
“The pictures are hysterical – it’s fun to have the beautiful, romantic ones along with the crazy silly ones – and to have so many different people included!”

I flew into Detroit this past weekend, to be a part of Kara + Matt’s wedding in Ann Arbor. They were married in the presence of an amazing family and group of friends at the beautiful Misty Farm. Their wedding was so perfect! From the colors, and the weather to the fireworks and the amazing vegan dinner!
After the ceremony we moved into an amazing old Michigan barn for a boot-stompin’ good time. We fired up the Photo Studio Experience and it was a huge hit (pics to come soon).
Thanks so much guys for letting me be a part of your amazing wedding!
As always, check out the rest of the series over on Facebook.

I really enjoy shooting destination weddings, as they are always an adventure. But, when a wedding turns into an 18 hour jeep roadtrip into British Columbia – through some amazing scenery – the adventure is more of an escape. Jill + Zach are both from Edmonton, and decided to get married at Summerhill Pyramid Winery in Kelowna, surrounded by their families and friends. It was a wonderful, relaxed day full of laughs, great weather and good wine. Everyone was so awesome to work with (Canadians in general just rock) and I appreciate the opportunity to work together on your wedding day!
As always, there are more over on Facebook.
Go Canucks!
